I've done it.
Browning BDM - just something about the lines of it and the name made me think it would be a good one. Nah.
XDM 5.25" 9MM (the competition model) - I mean, "match" barrel, adjustable sights. Another nope.
Recently the XDM 5" Tactical in .45 acp - a striker fired 1911 (.45 acp, grip safety and ambidextrous thumb safties) that felt good in my hand and even shoots pretty decent. But I didn't need it.
A last is that M&P 2.0 5" FDE 9MM - pretty, the 2.0's are said to be more accurate than the 1.0's (it was typed on the internet that S&W had fixed the inaccuracy issues of the 1.0 models). Another nope. It cost $415 new. I've added about $360 worth of Apex parts to it and it's finally on par with my average CZs. At the cost of a couple CZs (almost).
And yesterday, I saw an ad for FNX long slide 40's for $299 (new ones) and darn near ordered one. But, no thumb safeties so it was a no go. Then, I kept looking at the web site and saw they had FNS duty pistols - with thumb safeties - for the same price. For $600 I could buy one of each, swap the frames and have the long slide .40 S&W FNS with thumb safeties. Really? $600 for another pistol that might not shoot like the P07 and P09?
It's tough to walk away, sometimes. I really don't think I'll ever have/buy a pistol that will shoot like the P09 (the P07 is close, but not quite) and I really don't know why I keep looking.
