Safety question on CZ75B SP01

I recently picked up a brand new CZ75B SP01 and wow, I am extremely impressed with the gun.  After putting 250 rounds through it with flawless reliability and very tight groups, I am prepared to say that it is the first semi-auto handgun that I like better than a 1911.

I have a noob question about the gun.  Is it safe to holster the gun with a round chambered, safety on, and hammer down?  I am understanding that there is a firing pin safety so that having the hammer down cannot inadvertently result in a discharge.  Sorry if this is a pretty basic topic, but it is important to me.

With the hammer down? You shouldn’t be able to engage the safety unless it is cocked.

I've always wondered why a DA gun with a safety would be designed like that.   Why not let the safety be engaged with hammer down, and let the user decide whether to engage it or not?

A DA gun would not typically have a safety so SA/DA guns usually don't allow safety to be on with hammer down or half cocked. Why would you want both to begin with when it would just be one more thing to remember in an emergency situatio?  You are already in a safe position being double action.

carrying in DA with a safety engaged would be the same manual of arms as carrying in SA with safety engaged ("cocked and locked"), just with a longer trigger pull.  but same mechanics: disengage the safety and pull the trigger.  I agree that engaging the safety with hammer down isn't necessary for safe carry, I've just always wondered why the gun design shouldn't give me that choice.

I believe other DA/SA guns do let you engage the safety with hammer down.  Maybe H&K?  Certainly Beretta, although that's a completely different design.
