Oh How I Wish!
« on: September 21, 2019, 10:25:07 AM »
Oh how I wish the Browning High Power was being manufactured again but with the same SA and DA capability as the CZ 75.

Oh how I wish the CZ 75 would be manufactured with the same fit and finish as the Browning High Power and with the same thumb safety take down rather than just "cheensy" slide and frame scratches.

But I guess I should wish in one hand and......in the other!!!  Well you all know how that goes. :).

Sigh!

Have both; I will take a 75 over a HP every day and twice on Sunday. Fit / finish on my HPs are not overall better, but they do have crappy SA triggers and ridiculously small safety levers. But...they are great if you want to spend an additional $2-$3K and send it to Jim Garthwaite to have it turned into something special!
Want to see some factory fit/finish - take apart a HK P7M8.

You cannot compare the 1935 BHP with the 1975 CZ.  40 years makes a big change......

RodE

If ANYONE is scratching the frame removing the slide stop for take down on the CZ75 or ANY other pistol of that style then that say MUCH more about your mechanical abilities than the design of the pistol.

I think the OP might be referring to the take down alignment marks. RodE, if that is the case, those marks are not even needed. Get an armorers grip on the slide/frame, pushing the slide to the rear you can feel the point where the slide stop can be popped out.

Yes I agree that may be the case and yes I agree they are really not needed.Never had an issue with popping the stop on any of My many CZ's.

...I know the lines are there but NEVER even look at them. I have a RAMI and PCR, on both when the hammer is in the half cock position pulling the slide to the point where it hits the hammer gets everything in alignment. Just pop out the stop, you could do it in the dark. I presume this works for all hammer fired CZs?
I'm sure many know this but thought I'd toss the factoid out there. I've seen several YouTube cleaning videos where the narrator wasn't aware of this and struggled to get out the stop. Says a lot for the credibility of YouTube "experts" huh :-)

The High Power may have been one of the first high cap. wonder 9's and a great pistol but it's not the best. I still like my Browning High Power and shoot it often but all of my CZ's have better triggers and are more accurate.

This Turkish clone of BHP looks very nice and has some improvements:

But it's not the original masterpiece, I agree.
