Shortening reset and take-up 97B
« on: October 03, 2019, 12:09:08 PM »
I have a 97B with CGW goodies, SRS-CZ97, 10040 IDPA hammer kit, Ultra-lite kit, T2- disconnector, old style adjustable trigger, LW trigger return spring and CGW trigger pin. Is it possible to shorten SA take-up and reset even further by installing a hand fit disconnector and if so which one? I could convert to SA only, however I would like to retain the DA.

Yes, the CGW T3 Disco. Fitting a T3 can reduce the SA take up to near zero, it will not effect the reset distance.

Here is a thread i posted about fitting one to an SP-01 safety model.

CGW Type 3 Disco fitting fun.

Edit: Bwanag was kind enough to double check the information in this post and help me acknowledge that he is talking about a FPB equipt CZ. I posted below about fitting discos to FPB CZs.

Thanks, TOK. I've read that thread more than a few times. In the back of my mind I was thinking the thread pertained to the non-FPB CZ.
You guys ROCK!

TOK, can the type 3 disco be fitted to work with the FPB in place?

Arg, you are correct. I should have caught that. Unless you plan on removing the FPB from your CZ 97B there is very little to gain from fitting a disconector since you already have the CGW SRS installed. The issue is that the function of the FPB requires a certain amount of SA take up/Pre-travle. While you could still fit a disco for a B model with the FPB intact and the SRS installed there is so little to gain that it may not be worth the trouble.

The disco that you would start with is a CGW T1 disco (Drop in for shadows/non FPB CZs). I have not attempted this modification due to the potentially small gains in SA pre-travel reduction. With the slide off of the pistol, if you cock the hammer and pull the trigger (thumb the hammer down) then manually reset the action by pushing the trigger bar down. Recock the hammer, slowly let the trigger out until it resets while stopping the trigger at the reset point. If you then let the trigger go forward from the reset point that will be the potential SA pre-travel that can be eliminated with a fitted disco. With the SRS parts installed it is small.

Even if you converted to SAO some pre-travel would be required to allow the SRS FPB lifter arm to reset. Though you would gain the asset of the pre-travle adjustment set scerw in an SAO trigger. In SAO the Pre-travel set scerw dose the same job as a fitted disco. For clarity an SAO configuration generally has the disco removed.
