Drop some knowledge on the newbie
« on: November 02, 2019, 11:56:40 PM »
So..... I recently have had a huge enlightenment.  Glocks as much as I want to love them aren't for me.  Traded my G34 for a Sig M11-A1.  Added a p239 and a Sig x-compact(home build with a subcompact slide, x grip and Apex flat trigger)

And just this week I did what a thought I never would and got rid of my Glock 19 rtf for a P-07 Duty and some cash.

First trip to the range and I am in love but what do I have.  See a lot of reviews talk about a decocker and safety coming with it mine only had the safety.  Also I don't see a lot with the extended barrel.

Fill my head with the information you have.  Also any recommendations or typical things to look for.

First things first - do you prefer decocker or safety?
Whatever you decide, switching between safety and decocker is super easy, can be done within few minutes.

From decocker to safety - do not lose spring,
From safety to decocker  - it's a little tricky to setup the spring.

Enjoy this great shooter !

What you have is a P-07 "Duty". Basically a first gen P-07. The second gen added front serrations, a flatter trigger, swappable back straps, and revised polymer compound for the frame. Some prefer the second gen guns, but many of us continue to enjoy our P-07 Duty. Replacement parts will interchange between both guns, so no worries there.

Originally they came with decocker installed and safeties in the box(or other way around). However, some only came with one option or maybe sold/lost by previous owners. You can purchase replacement safeties from CZ USA, the install is simple to perform.

The extended barrel I believe was for the Canadian market (or some other) because of minimum length restrictions.

What you are missing is part of the gun. If you got the CZ carry case with the gun, what you need may still be under the foam inside the case.

The P-07 and P-09 both came with an "Omega" trigger mechanism. The Omega gives you the choice between safety selector OR decocker. You do not get both at the same time. If you are a 1911 fan, you can install the safety lever kit. If you are a Sig fan, then you install the decocker kit.

So what you are looking for is a small, clear plastic bag, with some small, black, funny-shaped parts inside. There's going to be a video on YouTube to show you how you exchange the parts. The change is simple and the owner can easily change it him/herself. No special tools are required.

Hope this helps.  ;)

Some distributors sold them without the extra parts. Mine didn't have safeties either, but I acquired mine used as well.

I won the first year P-07 Christmas give-away gun. It was shipped right from KC. It had the kit included.

That was when I figured out the discount seller I had purchased my P-01 from had kept all the "included parts" along with mag #2. He wanted me to come back and pay another $40 for the second mag. Might be a scam like that.

From earlier discussions (here and elsewhere), most owners of the "Canadian" style P-07 Duty said they only had safety parts and not decocker parts in the box.

Of course many of those came with Mepro TruDot tritium sights factory installed.
