I for one would never buy or let myself be given a "Factory second gun" of any type or brand.
It seems a factory second I phone might make sense cause no one gets hurt if your text doesn't go through or the "H" stops working on the phone pad.
But what ever goes wrong with a gun could potentially be a disaster.

I wonder if you can get good prices on guns with flaws at the manufacturing site.

Parts are typically made in large lots -- and some parts will pass through a number of different production processes. There will often be quality control checks at each step of the processing, and any part that is flawed is generally found quickly and set aside and will NOT be incorporated into what would later become a finished gun.   

I suspect that's why you don't find factory "seconds" in the gun world -- I don't think I've ever seen ANY!)  It's about corporate image:  I'm sure that some gun makers don't want any "seconds" going out from the factory -- to potentially tarnish their reputation or the perceived quality of their weapons.

Dan Wesson releases what they call blems. They can be identified by an upside down Y after the serial number. They are mechanically no different than first line models and only have flaws in the finish somewhere. Some flaws are so minor though that most people never find them.

Good to know.  And that's definitely a first for me.   I've seen blemished guns for sale, but they were almost always DEMO guns, used in gun shows  or at demos put on by Glock or S&W, etc.  None of these blemished guns came that way straight from the factory.

I did a little reading on some other forums about the DW Blems, and apparently they have only cosmetic blemishes (finish); they are otherwise fully warranted guns (except for the finish.)  A lot of owners have never found the blemish that led to their $200-lower price and special serial number symbol.   And they're apparently a great deal for someone looking for a CARRY gun, which will get blemished soon enough, anyway.

Blem sales are usually awesome, because, as mentioned, the blemishes are usually so hard to find you can't see them. Palmetto State Armory does that once in a while, but thier QC is getting so good they don't get many any more.
The P-10C and S models are being manufactured in the USA now - my P-10S has no import stamps whatsoever.

From what I was told, they had to almost saw the frame down the middle length wise to make it work, but that conversation was several years ago. Still wanna Scorpion in 10mm...

I'd buy a 10mm Scorpion Carbine in a skinny second.
