9x18..... What the skinny on ammo for CZ 82 ?  1988-89 manufacture

Will  .380 ACP or .32 ACP work?

This is WRONG! .380 ACP is not the same as 9x18. Do not try to use 380 ACP in a CZ82 chambered in 9x18 Makarov.

380 ACP is also 9x17 and 9mm kurz. 9x18 Mak is a completely different caliber, as is 32 ACP. If you have a CZ82, it is most likely chambered in 9mm Makarov, and takes ammo marked as 9x18 or 9mm MAK.

You need to feed a CZ vz82 the 9x18mm Makarov ammo it is chambered for. Silver Bear is a good choice (one of my favorites for 9x18).

9x17 = 380Auto (aka 380ACP and 9mm kurz)
9x18 = Russian "9mm" Makarov
9x19 = Luger (aka ParaBellum)

9x18 isn't really even 9mm as we know it (0.355"). It's really 9.2mm so you can get in trouble really fast with the wrong cartridge in the chamber.

For low budget reloading purposes you can trim down 9x19 brass, then size and load them with Makarov dies. Berry still makes 95gr bullets for reloading. W231 (aka HP-38) works really well.

9mm Makarov went through a heyday in the 1990's when all the Russian and Eastern Blok nations dumped their 9x18 police pistols on the US market. There were more sources back then, but lots of them have now dried up. At one time Sierra and Hornady also made bullets.

If you wan to shoot .380,9mm mak, and .32acp you will need to get all variants of the cz82/83. They make one in each caliber.
