USPSA Competition Firearm of choice recomendation
« on: May 25, 2020, 09:46:58 PM »
I am looking to replace my CGW upgraded SP-01 with a 40sw pistol.  I am looking to get educated of what option I should consider?  TSO?  A01?  Is there another option I should include?  There appear to be so many variants that I am having trouble keeping them all straight to be honest.  TIA for your input.

TSO is a solid choice. If you can shoot or hold one beforehand that's be ideal. I shot a TS then TSO for 5 years in Limited.

I'd be curious about a A01. I think with mag extensions it should be close to 20 rounds.

That said, while both great CZ options I started shooting 2011s and I'm glad I switched. Definitely more expensive though.

I have an STI 2011 that my daughter hijacked.  She is pretty good with it so I made peace with it....

Since you are already familiar with the SP-01, what about tuning a .40 cal SP-01 Tactical? They were discontinued a few years ago, but they are still out there.

Which division are you planning to shoot?  Assuming Limited since you’re looking for a .40SW gun?

My go-to Limited gun is a 6” 2011 in .40SW.  That said, if I had to do it over again I might look at the TSO with some slide lightening cuts.

For Production and Carry Optics, my preference is a Shadow 2 or a SP-01 Shadow in 9mm.

I've looked long and hard at the Dan Wesson DWX and I may purchase one.

I have and shoot TSO's in limited major.  My TSO's have been so rock solid I really don't have any reason to change.  Excellent accuracy and ergonomics.  A little hefty but manageable.

The 2011 crowd dominates the division, but then you have to worry about tuning magazines and keeping them clean.  I clean and wax my magazines before major matches but not much more than that.  I've tweaked my dry fire magazine lips but they get abused.  My TSO's have rarely hiccup'd and I would blame my reloads for those hiccup's.

Cheers,
Toby

Yeah Limited is what I am thinking.  Thanks.

Get the TSO in.40 or wait for the DWX in .40.

it depends on how much $$$ you want to spend.
If I were going 40 cal limited gun I'd buy a STI DVC Limited hands down.

I would also consider a Tanfoglio Limited Custom in 40 cal very nice gun.

just my 2 cents. You don't have to send either of these to Cajun, both are pretty sweet right out of the box but then you don't get to say your gun was cajunized.

Good luck with your choice, enjoy your season, be safe!

Are you for sure shooting limited?

Shadow 2 OR for Carry Optics would be sweet  ;)
