Apex Tactical to offer CZ Shadow2/CZ 75 trigger kits
« on: April 16, 2019, 01:31:59 PM »
It looks like Apex Tactical is going to try to get in on the popularity of the CZ Shadow 2 and the CZ 75B by offering trigger enhancement kits for them. I guess they think that CZ Customs and CGW need a little competition.

It should be interesting to see how their offerings sell as they have some real stiff competition with CZC and CGW. Apex has quite a reputation with M&P, Glocks, and recently FN pistols, let's see how they fare with CZ's. Preorders are being accepted now with shipping to start next week.

CGW/CZCustom race hammer is definitely too light for my needs and stock one is way on the opposite side.If Apex is somewhere in between,it would be nice.

I think Apex has hit a home run with this.

MSRP of $149.95 (so you'll probably be able to pick it up for $125-$130) which includes:
- new hammer
- new sear
- two main springs
- reduced power firing pin return spring
- new hammer pins

So the Apex site says no required stoning/polishing of the hammer/sear engagement surfaces. This isn't necessary with Cajun or CZC hammers either. The required fitting is so the safety will work with the new hammer, but this is addressed with the CGW adjustable sear. Looks like the difference in price amounts to the cost of a couple hammer pins, so slight advantage to Apex in that category.
The big difference to me looks to be about a half lb. increase in SA pull weight. I don't think it's a game changer, but it's nice to have options.
I'm glad they didn't come to market with a low price copy of another company's product like the Suarez "Face Shooter" trigger.

Their sear face angle is close to 90 degrees,I think with a stock sear it will be a bit more increase in a trigger pull than 0.5lb,if necessary.

I have an Apex trigger kit in my M&P 2.0.  Awesome.  Really hard to believe the improvement (over stock) till you try it.

I have a couple FNS strikers in FNS slides and will buy a couple more for the other slides fairly soon.

When I had a question about the function of the new Apex strikers in my two slides I PM'd Apex off the FN Forum on a Saturday evening and got a response within a couple hours.  We PM'd back and for a couple times and then I was given an e-mail address for further communications.  Only one was needed as I think I got it figured out and fixed to my satisfaction.  The trigger reset on the factory strikers was darn near as good as the Apex M&P trigger kit.  When the Apex strikers went in the trigger reset to striker release distance increased noticeably.  A little stoning of the sear to striker contact area with 280 and then 600 grit stones took care of it completely on one striker and very nearly completely on the other (continued dry firing made a quick improvement on that one).

That's my experience with Apex.

But, back to the CZ issue/question.  The CGW parts are just excellent.  Never any issues with the stuff I've bought.  So I can't remember ever needing to contact them.  I talked to either CGW or CZ Custom on the phone once (can't remember after 3 years or so which one) with questions about a slide release and got the info I needed.  I never ordered a hammer from CZ Custom since I was ordering the adjustable sear from CGW I just ordered the hammers from them, too.

I figure anyone ordering from any of the three vendors will be happy with what they order, or if not a quick phone call will get things straightened out.

Visit the Apex web site.  For the M&P and FN pistols/parts they have lots of tear down, parts replacement, and put it all back together videos.
I just keep wasting time and money on other brands trying to find/make one shoot like my P07 and P09.  What is wrong with me?
