CZ 75 Slide Stop Reassembly
« on: January 04, 2020, 05:54:23 PM »
I have an old CZ 75 that I love.  Dont shoot it often, but last time I did, I decided it was time to clean it.  That went fine.  Then problem I've had before cropped up and I cant figure it out.

Removed slide for cleaning.  Removed slide stop.  There's this tiny straight thin steel clip that holds slide stop in.  I cannot for the life of me get it back.in.  Removed trigger guard, grips.  Cannot gain access to the hole in the slide stop where thin clip inserts and then clip rests on other end of slide stop. This is internal and cant see or feel my way to get clip slide stop while.

Disassemble further the answer?  I've had this problem before and somehow successfully got that clip in place.  No luck this time.  Suggestions? Tips?

We're going to need some pics to help you in any way. All my CZ's have the slide stop spring in the frame.

The slide stop spring has a small retaining pin that goes in the small hole on the right side of the frame. You have to push down on that spring while inserting the retaining pin. Once that’s is inserted you should have to use a punch to remove it. Is the retaining pin in place? Sits flush to the frame in that small hole

See the little pin right in front of the slide stop (CZ85 type slide release so it has one on both sides of the frame)?  It is flat on the outside and kind of rounded on the inside and has a groove around it that you can't see in this picture.

You push that pin out far enough that the spring will push down below it and then push the pin back in place to hold the spring in place.  You can feel the spring is in place as the pin becomes difficult to move if you push on it again.
I just keep wasting time and money on other brands trying to find/make one shoot like my P07 and P09.  What is wrong with me?

M1A4ME:  You may have solved my problem!  Your solution sounds familiar!  Like I noted, I encountered same problem the last time I cleaned the gun (a few years ago).  Somehow I was able to figure it out & put gun all back together.  The pin trick sounds right.  I didnt think of that this time.  Didnt want to keep disassembling the gun for fear of not remembering how to put it back together.  And losing pieces.  Will tap the pin tomorrow. I'm pretty sure you're right!  Thanks!  Will let you know if it works 😄

Your slide is on opposite side and u fortunately, I cant load a pic of my CZ because cant get imjur to do it.  Only device I have is Android S10 smartphone.  Imjur doesnt offer me the share option described in post about adding photos.  I'll mess with the pin I do have in the slide stop area, but not as close or parallel to pin on your 85.

Might be different, but not because the pistol in my pictures is a CZ85.

It's a CZ75 Compact I modified to use CZ85 controls.  Even added a spur hammer.  I like CZ85's.  Got a Pre B CZ85 and like it so I made myself a CZ85 (like) Compact for concealed carry.  I even converted my CZ75B .40 (came with ambidextrous thumb safeties) to use a CZ85 slide stop dual levers.

Like I said, you pin may be different, but the one in my picture left the factory as a CZ75 Compact.

This is the CZ75B .40 with CZ85 slide release and spur hammer and you can just barely see that pin out in front of the slide stop lever on it, too.  On an standard CZ75 the right side/tip of the slide release/slide stop pin still sticks out of the frame at the same spot.

I think the pin may have to be pushed through from the outside to the inside to let it fall out inside the frame.  Then you re insert if just enough to stay in the outside frame hole, install the spring, push it down with a small common screw driver and then push the pin fully into the receiver when you have the spring pushed down below the pin hole.  The spring sits in a groove in the slide stop shaft to hold the slide stop in place.

Good luck with it.

I ended up taking the gun almost all the way apart.  Grips, trigger guard, trigger.  I think I was trying to insert slide stop sping backwards. Got some help from my son, but unfortunately, we ended up breaking off the end of the spring.  Plan to call CZ tomorrow.  Anyone have any ideas on where I might  find a replacement slide stop spring?  It's about an inch and a 1/4 long and is curved  on one end like a shepherd's staff.

Make sure to get the right one. There are two different styles within the CZ75 variants.

3OS Slide Stop Spring Old Style
