Shadow 2 thumb placement
« on: December 29, 2019, 01:12:14 PM »
Took my new S2 to the range today. I found that the most natural place for me to put my left support thumb is on the slide stop. Kind of uncomfortable but it was the place I liked best. Nothing else felt right. Any issues with having my thumb there?

My son had an issue with his thumb brushing up against the extended mag release.

That's where I put my left thumb on all my CZ's, and no problems after thousands of rounds.

No issues with the slide not locking back on the last round, or locking back before the mag is empty? Neither happened with me despite resting my thumb there.

In the time that i have been into CZs, i can not remember hearing of this being an issue with the 75s. The slide stop spring in the CZ 75 variants is rather strong from the factory, this may play into why it dose not come up.
Will work for CZ pics! (including but not limited to all CZ clones)

It has never been a problem with the slide locking back on the last round or locking before the last round.  The only annoyance is when the slide lock gets hot.

I'm one of those guys that hooks my index finger of my support hand on the front of the trigger guard so my thumb rests at the front of the slide lock.  I have not had an issue with inadvertent lock backs or failure to lock back.  The extended mag release has several positions it can be adjusted to to best suit the shooter.  Enjoy your new Shadow 2!

The way I grip my gun, my support hand’s thumb is well forward of the slide stop.  In fact, my SH’s thumb touches the roll marking on the frame. Strong hand thumb rests on the heel of my SH’s thumb with both thumbs pointing forward.
