Is a better trigger worth $200?

I ran my SP-01 for 1000 rds or so and it smoothed out nicely. I was thinking that the one you handled may have been handled/dry fired a bunch and the trigger had smoothed out a bit.

After a year or so I installed a 3 spring CGW kit. I figured I could always add more of their stuff to upgrade it if that didn't do it for me. I think it was <$20 and took me ~30mins at the table. Trigger is smoother and lighter that I ever thought it would be with that kit and I have no plans to mess with it further.

I think this would be the equivalent for the shadow 2. $39.

Mechanical devices that have some hand fitting done can vary greatly in the final fit up.  Some turn out great, others not so much.  That S2 with the good factory trigger might have the potential to be one of the rare, fantastic guns.  The local CZ group I shoot with in Indy has one guy that has had many CZs done.  Every once in a while, there will be a gun produced that just stands out from the rest even though they all got the same recipe done on them.  Those guns are special and stay in our group.

It could be that the S2 has that potential.  It’s not that often that you find a factory CZ with a really good trigger out of the box.  They all get better with use but a factory trigger that’s great is not common unless you are spending big dollars for one. 

With mail order, you get what you get.  Sure, you can drop $350 on a CGW Pro kit and lots of polishing but there might be value in grabbing that gun with the great trigger and just doing springs down the road.  It could end up as one of those really world class guns.

$200 MAY not be needed - and maybe it may be. 

You CAN buy a CZ with a good trigger OTB, and do a little polishing and change some springs and have an excellent combat trigger for $25.

If you want something 'right' for competition, you may spend $200-300.  Send out any gun for trigger work and it will run $200-300.

I receive my SP01 Christmas eve, shot it two days later.  Did change hammer spring to the blue spring  from CGW, added a SS guide rod with a 14# recoil spring, everything else stock.  Shot a 5 or 6 shot group at 25 yds, 2.5 to 3 inch. With MG 121gr, 4.0 TG powder @ 1090 fps.
Told myself...I could shoot this in a match, right now!  No problem.
A nice trigger is good to have but yeah, its 300 dollars.  And you need decent sights.  It adds up. Just practice with what you have.

Ran 250 rounds without issue. 3 boxes of S&B 124gr, 1 box of Magtech 115 and 1 box of Fiocchi 115.

I was really surprised at the double action accuracy.

Glad it worked out for you. Keep shooting it and it'll smooth out even more. The CGW spring kits are super easy to install if you get the hankering to do it.
