Does such an animal exist?
« on: January 17, 2020, 10:04:54 PM »
I'm a novice regarding  the CZ 75/85 pistols. So while scrolling thru the CZ 75 listings on Armslist I came across a listing out of Topeka for a CZ 75 pre B (1985) Stainless, Alloy. Wishful thinking?

I do not believe there are stainless steel pre-B CZ pistols

there were satin nickel CZ pistols
I don't look like my avatar!

Like Eastman said, there weren't any pre-b's made in stainless. Some were plated by importers or owners, but no S.S.

So maybe it was just refinished?  Depending on internal condition it would be worth considering if you’re in the market and a good price. I have a pre-B I bought used here that had been upgraded with CGW parts and is one of the smoothest operating and most accurate shooting pistols I’ve ever owned. Previous owner had attempted a home cold bluing and I stripped it and did the same just to experiment with the process. Doesn’t look like much but absolutely love the gun and won’t part with it. Have been thinking about either trying to send to Nighthawk for their smoked nitride finish (if they’ll even do it?) or get it professionally re-blued. Though having a satin nickel or stainless finish would be kinda cool too?  Haven’t quite pulled the trigger on that yet as sometimes I look at it and kinda dig the current well-used look lol. I’ve only put about 500 rounds through it but it is a fantastic shooter!

It's probably a home refinish and it's not at anything close to a good price. The frame appears to be a matte finish with the slide done bright. I haven't heard of an alloy frame CZ 75 and was curious if they were real.

It could also be a "plating" of some sort.  CZ did use nickel and they still do.

If you have the money burning a hole in your pocket, buy it.  But just be aware....

I saw that listing for the CZ 75 pre B (1985) Stainless...several tell tale signs it's an after market job. I suspect someone wanted the satin & polished look to replace what was likely the original enamel finish.

If you are comfortable with the price and it appeals to you, then as bang bang stated, buy it...but we aware it's not a collectible factory piece.
