CZ 75 SP01 Sights
« on: January 31, 2020, 08:19:51 AM »
Hello
I have a CZ75 SP01 and love it.  It came with tritium night sights.  I want to install a big dot white front sight to help my aging eyes.  If you have information on a big dot white sight specifically made for this pistol I would greatly appreciate it.  I would rather not purchase something that will require drilling but rather something that is predrilled for the CZ roll pin.
Thank you
Gary T

Not to dissuade you, but I once thought a larger front sight dot would improve my accuracy with my mid-sixties eyes. The larger dot just obscures the target and turned out to be less accurate than the smaller front dot. The best front sight for my old eyes turned out to be the Dawson Fiber optic.  Just sharing my experience.

Larger dot but in fiber optic worked best for me.  Started with a 1.0 fiber and switching to 1.5 fiber made a big difference for me.
When did it change from "We the people" to "screw the people"?

Why use 911 when it's faster to use 1911 or 9mm?

Would you also consider adding a red dot?
WTB PM if you got any for sale:
CZ 75 SHORT RAIL (factory blued)
CZ 75 PRE-B (factory blued).

Hi
Thanks for feedback.  I am considering this because when I shoot my S&W M&P 2.0 5" 9mm the front sights really pops for me.  The tritium front sight n my CZ is ok but not as good for me as the other mentioned.  I do know the tritium sight is expensive and it's way cool that it was included standard when I bought the gun.  I've been told to ship the slide to CZ and have them do the switch.  Any thoughts?
Thanks
Gary T

Easy to do yourself (says the guy who is picking up his gun with new sights from CZC).  Had them do this one with both front and rear fiber optics because it's my carry Canik and I am in the area for the winter. now sights are same as my SP01 Shadow. Typically do them myself back in MN.

My eyes aren't as young as they used to be and I've got red fiber optic front sights on everything.
Wouldn't be without them: they're much easier to see than the stock front sights.

The front sight is not drilled for the roll pin.

I noticed this weekend that my stock (2016 SP-01) front sight is dead - no more glow. For those who have installed the fiber optic sights, did you replace front and rear or just the front. I see that Dawson has just the fronts or sets, but I cant decide whether the competition rear sight with or without fiberoptics would be a big help in IDPA and USPSA matches.

On my four 75's, Only the front sight was replaced with a Dawson FO .125w x .135h, with blacked out factory rear. Stock height on a 75 from the slide top is .125, but after fitting the .135h Dawson, the final height was .130.  The SP-01 front sight has different dimensions than the 75 I believe. I don't think a rear FO is a better option from what I have read, but I never experienced that option.

I changed over to FO front sights on both the 75 SA and the Kadet Kit. My Shadow came with
one from the factory.  All my rear sights are stock.  I shoot steels a bit, and the FO sights helped
me pick up the targets faster.
