Safety falls off CZ75 Shadow
« on: February 11, 2020, 10:04:24 AM »
Problem with RH safety falling off repeatedly, even with new safety set.  Safety seems to fit fine.  Slightly loose sear cage with safeties in place.  This is a 75 Shadow, pre-SP-01, has RH detent with spring.  I even put in an aftermarket stronger detent spring with no improvement.  Any thoughts on this?

Can you post a pic of the RH spring (slide off)

That's odd.

Is the right side safety detent staying is place or falling out of place?

The RH safety detent stays in place.
Attached photo is with standard detent spring.

What safeties are you using?
D style or tumbler?
Photo of them off the gun?

thanks

that is a D style safety set.
75 Shadow generally ship with tumbler style safeties and ejector housing.
the ejector housing and the right side detent should be change to D style and non spring RHS detent.
here are parts and links you will want to look at.

RHS detent, non-spring, sku: 10135

D-style ejector housing, sku: 10023
https://czcustom.com/cz-75-ejector-sear-cage-d-style.html

hope that helps

Sweet, thanks, Stuart.  Was wondering about that detent.  Definitely did not know about the housing.  Got this model as it was a bit different from my SP-01s, and enjoying that.

This is the first time that i have seen this mix up, i was unaware that one could install the wrong style safety lever set. I did not believe that they would even fit the sear cage/ejector and seat properly.

You also have the option of picking up a set of Spindle style safety levers.

As a general rule for CZ 75 variants, the short dust cover frames (75B, 75 Shadow) use Spindle style safeties and the full length dust cover frames (SP-01) use a D style safeties.
Will work for CZ pics! (including but not limited to all CZ clones)

Oh, it’s a second-hand piece from a known competitor and gun-buggerer, LOL.  I’m sorting through a few things with it, but coming along nicely now.
