Replacement for a tired recoil spring
« on: March 24, 2020, 03:51:22 PM »
Hi, new here and i hope this isn’t misplaced.
I have around 12000 rounds through my p10c and the recoil spring is getting a bit tired. Is the cajun # 15 on a steel rod a suitable replacement? Any other recommendations that match the original’s performance? Help?

You can go with a stock one from CZ. May take a while to get parts right now though!

Weight of the recoil spring depends on the ammunition you’re shooting.  I use a 15# recoil spring in my P10C when shooting 9mm ammo that I’ve loaded to meet minor Power Factor (velocity x bullet weight / 1000).  For stouter ammo like +P or NATO rounds I would use the factory spring.

One compromise is to use the 18 lbs spring.

Basic rule of thumb: if your empty cases are dribbling out of the gun and landing at your feet use to a light weight recoil spring.  If your empty cases are being ejected 20+ feet away, you may want to use a heavier spring.  I replace my recoil springs every 5K-ish rounds.

Thanks everyone.
Just got back from the range.
I took a DPM kit and a cgw # spring with me to experiment and settled on the cgw. It feels the best and my pistol is ejecting nicely again.
Thanks for the inputs.

If you really want to tune your pistol for specific loads, Glock 19 springs fit perfectly and are available in every weight imaginable.
