"I realized that I probably wouldn’t be wearing my special safety glasses if I ever had to pull my gun. "

This bothered me for a long time.  Then I realized I was unlikely to notice the difference in a high-stress situation.  I now still shoot with safety glasses (longer exposure to dangerous activity), practice with regular glasses and a laser target (iTargetPro), and occasionally shoot with my regular prescription bifocals.  I find little difference in my accuracy with any glasses, for the most part.

The very reason I like the RMR on my P07.  I usually have glasses on.  Things are blurry without them.  But, if I had to really use the P07 it wouldn't matter.  With my glasses the amber dot is nice and clear.  Without my glasses the amber dot is fuzzy.  Nice and clear or fuzzy the dot is easy to put on the target.

Not easy to put a front sight I can't even see without glasses on that target.

The rear sight is fuzzy, the front sight isn't there.  I don't know, maybe without a rear sight to "fuzz up" my picture I might still be able to see a fuzzy front sight??  But then I wouldn't have a good way to align the barrel with the target.  I might be able to align the front sight with the target but that alone won't put the bullets where they need to go.
I just keep wasting time and money on other brands trying to find/make one shoot like my P07 and P09.  What is wrong with me?

I can’t even read my phone without my cheaters on.  My wife (one of those people with annoying perfect vision) likes to make fun of how big the font is on my iPhone setting, and that’s one of the reasons I use my iPad whenever I can.  My next phone may be one of those plus phones just shy of a mini iPad in size.

Recognizing my own limitations with vision at close distances, I chose to outfit the guns I am most likely to carry or by my bedside, as well as my competition guns with red dots.  My P10C has an RMR on it, my 365XL has a Romeo 0 (I have mixed feelings about that dot as an EDC option), and my comp guns primarily have SROs on them but my Steel Challenge rimfire guns have Vortex Razr or C-Mores on them.  With all of those, I can use them without any eye-correction, see the dot clearly as well as the target, and that’s how I’m practicing with them as well as shooting in matches.

As far as taking an aimed shot vs point-shooting during a defensive scenario, I’m fairly confident of my ability to hit a humanoid size target center mass inside of 7 yds using just my index.  I do this enough in matches at close hoser targets as well as something I practice with my EDC guns.  However, despite all that, I still want my gun setup that I know I can take an aimed shot if the situation calls for it, say a head shot like the gentleman in the Texas church was called upon to do, or a wild animal that is about the same size as a head.

Looking at this another way, don’t you want your EDC’s iron sights to be usable and sighted in?  Or do you think all of your anti-social encounters will be close of enough that you don’t even need iron sights?
