New P-01 Barrel wear???

Hi,

I just got my first CZ. It’s a P-01 and bought it brand new.

I understand CZ barrels show some wear even when new. However I’m seeing uneven wear line from one side to another. As you can see from the picture, the wear line is uneven and at an angle. Looking from the top, left side wear line is closer to the barrel tip than right side.

Is this normal? Anything to be concerned with? Again I get barrels will show wear even when new. I’m just not understanding why the wear would be uneven from one side to another. Anyone?

Nothing to worry about. That's just the typical variation in the CZ barrel finish. They just don't give the barrels on the old metal guns the attention they should.

That uneven wear is not normal. All my CZ handguns developed a little wear on the barrels after several hundreds of rounds, but the wear on mine is all perfectly symmetrical. Yours looks like something isn't quite right, perhaps inside the slide... That said, I don't think it's a serious problem unless you notice the barrel "binding" in the slide.

Wear on mine is not perfectly symmetrical but not that slanted.   My question is: how does it function and how is the accuracy?  That said, if you are concerned contact CZ customer service and let us know what they say.  Thanks

I contacted CZ rep 9 days ago and he asked me for pics. Picture was then forwarded to the Gunsmith at CZ the same day and I was told I will hear back from warranty/gunsmith soon. I inquired again few days ago for any update as I thought delay was bit long. Rep said gunsmith will get back to me ASAP. Still no word from gunsmith...

I understand fixing something can take week(s). But I didn’t think response would have taken this long and counting... is this delay typical?

The gunsmith at CZ has a broken leg and will need time to recover.... so it may be a while for a response.

I will be shipping it to CZ warranty to have them looked at in person.

Newbie question:

This will be first interstate shipping of any gun for me. Can I ship this to CZ or do I need FFL to do it for me? If I can ship my self, anything I need to consider so that I don’t get in any legal trouble? Or is this as simple as shipping a box of chocolate interstate?

Not sure where you are located, so that might make a difference. CZ should have provided a shipping label for you with instructions on getting the gun back to them. Here in Florida, it's pretty easy to ship a gun in for warranty work. You either drop off the wrapped gun at a FedEx distribution office or have the gun picked up at your home by a UPS delivery person. The gun is returned to you directly with an adult signature required. YMMV

You can ship it to CZ directly. You have to bring it to a UPS or Fed Ex location.  Not a drop off or third party shipper.  You also have to declare that it's a firearm to the person at the counter.
