15 Round Mecgar for RAMI
« on: April 29, 2020, 05:40:59 PM »
Unfortunately, the issue of my 14 rd RAMI magazines catching on the bottom of the feed ramp started again.  I had previously fixed it with stronger magazine springs.

However, this time I had a new weapon.   I bought a PCR last fall and have a supply of the new 15 rd Mecgars!  They have a higher lip to prevent the round from sliding forward into the feed ramp before the round is fully elevated.

I found that the front radius of the sleeve needed some light filling to fit on the 15 rd mecgar.  There was a slight gap at the bottom that I filled with a .070" o-ring.

My testing has been limited to a few magazines, but successful nonetheless!  :D

I will post pictures shortly.

I have extensive experience with those 15 round mecgar magazines as they come with all of the canik c100s. In my experience they function 100% reliable in the Rami.

Nice! Sounds like a good solution. Pics are way extra big, though, so it's hard to know what I'm looking at.

^ Can you resize the 3rd photo? It’s hard for me to see both mags at the same time.

Looks nice, I may do the same for the 14 round mecgar I got.  I have some RAMI sleeves ordered.

Do you have more information on the  o-ring?  I assume the .07 is the width, what was the diameter?

I ordered a Parker size 2-026 90 durometer nitrile o-ring.  That is a nominal 1-1/4 ID X 1-3/8 OD X 1/16 W.

I ordered generic ones from Mcmaster Carr.  The part number was 5308T135.  I was estimating the size when I ordered, and if I had to order again, I would order the size smaller (2-025 1-3/16 ID X 1-5/16 OD X 1/16 W).  The 2-026 size just barely has some stretch when you put it on.  I was hoping for a little more.  I think that the 2-025 would do that.  There is no risk of the 2-026 coming off as it's wedged between the baseplate and the sleeve.
