Disappointing Micro Accuracy
« on: July 07, 2020, 07:09:06 PM »
Has anyone else found apparent accuracy issues caused by the 'Nosprey' faux suppressor?

First I bought a braced Scorpion pistol with the carbine forend and it is very accurate, usually cutting a ragged hole at 25 yds, with what ever ammo I have shot.

Next I bought a Micro last year that had the 'Nosprey' faux suppressor and initially had problems with the faux suppressor continuously working loose. Finally broke down and applied Loctite which did solve the loosening issue but even using a solid rest and a red dot sight, accuracy with all different weights and brands of ammo was less than stellar (2-6 in groups). My preferred carry load of Federal HST 124gr +P was averaging 2-4 inch groups from a solid rest at 25yds. Federal 147gr HST showed no real improvement.
Finally got around to replacing the 'Nosprey' faux suppressor with the new KAK Micro Slimline Flash Can. Today I was able to get the Scorpion Micro to the range for a quick sight in before a rain & lightening storm came in. 25 rds Sellier & Bellot 124gr FMJ gave me a nice ragged hole at 25yds. Now that's more like it. Hope to get more testing completed in the next couple of days, to confirm that the faux suppressor was the issue.

With the first 500 rounds my micro was bone stock and accuracy was just meh. Much like you described. I had the trigger done and also put a KAK slimline on mine at the same time and afterwards ended up with the accuracy you mentioned above as well. I attributed it to the trigger. So after reading your post I examined the inside of the retainer sleeve from the faux can and I can see where the bullets were grazing the inside of the tube. Just ever so slightly. Interesting.

Dutch, I never even thought to look inside the retainer. Just attributed the lack of accuracy to either too much torque on the barrel that may have affected harmonics. Either way, I hope the poor accuracy gremlins have gone away. Hope to get to the range again in the next few days, if we get a break for the heat/humidity, to check the accuracy with my defense loads.

I used it in a falling steel plate challenge match a little over a week ago and it was dead nuts on. I still got wasted by the guys with uber fast AR's but managed a 14 out of 40. Made me giggle. I would have no problem using this thing to engage multiple targets say in a home defense situation. Not sure I would have felt so confident with it had I still had it in stock form.

Dutch, I did pull my faux suppressor from my parts bag and mine showed no evidence of bullet strikes or skimming. I guess WHY I was getting poor accuracy ISN'T as important as, it isn't happening any more. At least I hope, still more testing to do. The Micro has a tough standard to meet, as it's got to compete with an HK MP5.

True on all counts. I really like the delayed blowback rollerblock design of the MP5. I've shot a few pretty good clones. But holy cow are they heavy. Plus, once you buy an HK you have to start drinking dark, heavy beer and calling people who carry Glocks "The Poors."   :D
