SP-01 double-action trigger problem?
« on: May 19, 2020, 01:25:51 AM »
I've never fired this pistol, I'm the second owner, and it looks like it has less than 50 rounds through it. I don't know if this is normal or not, but when I pull the trigger in SA mode, it breaks properly and feels normal, but if you ride the hammer then the hammer binds on the DA part of the pistol. So I removed the mainspring and sure enough, right when the pistol breaks in SA, it snags onto the DA mode of the pistol. But if I pull it further, it clears the DA and I can send the hammer forward. Again, it feels like 2 sears are being released, first the SA, then the DA. Is this part of the design?

So this is the problem I'm having and I can reproduce it if I break the trigger VERY slowly. And I can reproduce it 100% of the time if I break it without the manspring.

What happens if you pull and hold the trigger all the way back and rock the hammer through its full travel, back and forth? Dose it catch the sear or is it free throughout its travel?
Will work for CZ pics! (including but not limited to all CZ clones)

I know what the problem is and a couple solutions, but the timing is very poor on these pistols. For example, the firing pin block lever, the part that hits the trigger bar, is not proper dimension . The trigger bar should hit it sooner so that the FPB lever goes up quicker. I used to own a stock p-01 and, when I removed the FPB, the firing pin was hitting it, damaging the block. In my experience the quality has gone up on the pistols in regards to frame/slides et cetera, but timing and part fitment in relation to timing is not right.

I pretty much fixed it since I had another sear. Basically one option is to remove material from the lower-arm of the sear that contacts the trigger bar. Keeping the same angle, you take off about .003 thousanths and keep the same angle. This helps with reset and it also gives more time for the firing pin block to clear the firing pin.

does it have the overtravel screw in the trigger? my sp-01 and p-01 had the same issue when setting the trigger overtravel. if the screw is turned in too far then the hammer will not fall. as you turn the screw out a 1/4 turn at a time eventually the hammer will fall. however it is posible for the hammer to fall and it still has interference in it's foreward travel. my p-01 did it yrs ago and just went thru the same thing with the sp-01 . the resolve is to turn the overtravel out till it just stops and then an addition bit more for insurance.
