VZ-2008 refinish?
« on: June 12, 2020, 08:39:53 PM »
So who here has put a decent finish on a century vz-2008?  What did you do and how do you like it? Photos are welcome.  I have a vz-2008 and two vz-58's and honestly, the biggest difference is the finish.

Thanks,
Chris

Because of the dissimilar metals used in a VZ58, Century just went with a teflon/teflon-moly finish.

You'll need to remove it entirely before doing any other coating.  AK Files has a post regarding: https://www.theakforum.net/forums/66-czechoslovakian/175517-vz2008-make-over-please-help-finishing-parts-details.html

I use duracoat, its expensive, but works well.  I made my own custom match, which started with their vz2000 color, added a few drops of bright blue, and cut about 60-40 with gloss clear.  Was able to duplicate the factory finish to well within the variations of parts kit colors.  The vz2000 is already a good color match for the greener end of the color range, but the few drops of blue, put it right in the middle of range.  However, without the gloss clear mixed in, the sheen will be far too flat to look at all correct.
