Benefit of shipping through an ffl?
« on: June 09, 2020, 03:56:19 PM »
Is there any benefit of shipping through an ffl? I finally got the email to send my gun in and im nervous about not shipping through one. I live in nj and gun laws here suck. Any advice is welcome

If CZ sent you a Fedex return label that should be fine. No need to spend the extra $ on an FFL

A FFL can ship via the USPS and you can't.  But unless the FFL does it out of the goodness of his heart, they'll charge you for the privilege and it will cost the same or more as using FedEx.  CGW probably sent you shipping info (if they didn't, ask), just ship it like they told you to.

It depends on what your FFL charges.  I have one that will ship for $25 and that includes the transfer.  So it's way cheaper to ship via FFL. The downside is that CGW will need to ship it back to that FFL and not directly to you.  So make sure your FFL is conveniently located and has convenient hours.

Unless you have a buddy relationship with your FFL who will not overcharge you, then I would say send it out yourself.  The ONLY advantage of using an FFL is that they can send it out using the USPS, and most FFL's will still ship it out using UPS or Fed Ex as they have local pickup service.

And as someone else already mentioned, by using an FFL you will have to go back and pick it up from them, compared to having it shipped directly back to you if you ship it out yourself.
