147 loads for p09
« on: June 03, 2020, 08:57:34 AM »
Trying to work up some minor power factor loads for a p09 with 147 coated bullets. Using 231 powder I've gotten a 130 pf load with 3.2 grains at 1.10 but it seems to be ejecting short with 15lb recoil spring installed. Haven't had any ftf or fte's but the spent cases are only dropping about 2/2.5 feet from me. Wondering if titegroup might give a little faster slide and stiffer ejection or should I look into some 120/125 loads.

I don't understand the question or problem.

Your present 147gr loads are making PF. There have been no feed or extraction issues. If the load is reliable, then it's a good load. Why are we throwing in extra expectations after load development ? Is your RO complaining the brass is too easy to find ?

124gr with any fast or moderately fast powder is going to give you faster slide action and and thus faster follow-up shots.

How was the accuracy? My tests of 147-160 grain bullets left much to be desired.

No law holding you at 130PF. You could try 3.3 or 3.4gr loads.

Or, if the accuracy is especially right at 3.2gr, then try a 12# recoil spring.
