trigger reset issue?
« on: July 26, 2020, 09:23:19 PM »
Long story short, I've experienced a few issues shooting my Scorpion in competition.   Specifically, I pull the trigger mid magazine and nothing happens.   I pull the trigger and the gun doesn't fire/hammer doesn't move.   When I try to clear the issue, I eject an unfired round from the chamber so it seems to me it's not a magazine issue.   The only trigger work I've done is the HBI spring kit.    During a match yesterday, I'm cruising along and pull the trigger and nothing.    I rack the slide and the unfired round ejects and I try again but nothing happens.   Third time was a charm and I finished the course of fire.   It's like the hammer or trigger aren't resetting after the round fired.

Any thoughts from the Scorpion brain trust?

Have you checked on the position of the trigger return spring. If looking down into your lower, the right leg of the spring has to be all the way over to the right against the wall of the trigger housing. Have you replaced the trigger shoe. Double check the pin holding trigger shoe on, sometimes they are a hair too long and hang up on the frame. The trigger shoe pin can also 'walk' slightly and hang up on the frame, preventing the trigger from moving all the way forward.
If all else fails call HBI, they have GREAT customer service.
Here is a link to an thread on Arf.com ref same issue and HBI's response with pictures further down the thread.

Thanks!   Some good info there.   I'll check the springs out and see if I can see any issues.    Somebody on ARF said they manually pushed the trigger forward to reset so that might be something to check out if it fails again.    Problem is during a competition your rushing to clear the problem and keep rolling.  It's very intermittent.

Thanks again!

Also check to see if the set screw that holds the selector/safety lever hasn't backed out, causing the selector to not fully come off of safe.

The safety set screws are fine.

I definitely had this issue so I fixed that.

I had this same issue recently. The HBI springs was the root of the problem... Which was hammer follow.

I put the stock springs back in and the problem went away.
