DW ECP Mags?
« on: August 22, 2020, 01:34:35 PM »
Just got my first DW. I went to buy Wilson combat 9mm mags but they didn’t seat. Any clue where I can buy extra mags that fit?

I've been using Metalform 9 round welded base mags in my Valors and Vigils with 100% reliability. I tried a Wilson Combat 10 round model, ended up trimming the base to get the mag to lock in. It worked after that, but the Metaform mags cost less and work out of the box.

There are almost always going to be manufacturer tolerance variables with 1911 pistols and magazines in both 9mm and .45 ACP in my experience.

I own several 9mm and .45 caliber 1911 pistols from Ed Brown, Dan Wesson, Wilson Combat, Springfield, Colt, and S&W.

I use Wilson Combat, Ed Brown, CMC, Dawson Precision, and Tripp magazines.  I have some 1911's that almost any of the mags will work in, and some that only one or two brands of mags will perform reliably in them.  It's called tolerance stacking

Bottom line:  Try some different magazines in YOUR pistol before buying a bunch of mags.  Find a brand that works reliably, and then make your bulk purchase.

When I was looking for mags for my Kimber 9mm 1911, I did a search and 'Brownell' mags came up as being very well made and popular.
