P-10S Opinions
« on: August 16, 2020, 10:49:30 AM »
Not much written on this forum about this little pistol.  What are folks thoughts about it versus the competition...Glock & Sig in particular.

I just bought one a week ago and took it to the range yesterday.

I wasn't able to shoot it because that range and the stores I visited before going to the range didn't have any 9mm ammo.

I'm on a remote assignment and didn't think to bring any with me from home as I wasn't expecting to shoot 9mm here, but when I  came across a P-10S at a show last weekend, I couldn't resist.

I had to content myself with shooting my FK 7.5 BRNO Field Pistol for the first time...this is one sweet-shooting gun.  It felt like I was shooting my CZ-97BE recoil-wise.  I only shot 8 rounds, because its ammo is $1.79 a round and also in short supply here in the states.

I also shot my TWO (2) recently acquired .44 magnums for the first time:  Ruger Super BlackHawk (stainless) and S&W 329PD.  I didn't realize that the previous .44 mags that I had rented on 4 occasions back in Houston the range ammo wasn't 240 grain.  It turns out that all the ammo that I picked up at last week's show was all 240 gr. The recoil was substantially more than I had experienced with the rentals.

I came back from the range nursing my hand and then watched a Jerry Miculek video on the necessary way to grip the larger frame higher-power revolvers.  After watching his half-hour video, I realize that to grip the Ruger properly, I'm going to have to reduce the hammer about 1/4".  Since it is SAO, when cocked it pinches my strong hand when I'm holding as high as Jerry recommends (he had his revolvers hammers reduced).  I may also consider buying a couple of the Miculek grips that he offers as the Ruger comes with a "tacky" rubber grip.

I expect to make a trip back to Houston in a week or so and I'll be sure to ammo-up with 9mm so I can give a good report on the P-10S.  If it is anything like the P-10C and P-10F, I'm sure to be pleased with it.

I have been carrying one for three months now , shoots great, I am not a fan of the front sight so I will replace it at some point. I did get the Shield Arms mag extensions - plus 5, also bought an extra mag. Today I just bought the optic ready version ,hopefully it will arrive at the end of this week. The trigger is pretty good right out of the box, shoots to pint of aim and has performed with zero malfunctions through my first 750 rounds . Now that I have decide I really like the pistol I will get myself a proper holster for it.  In the future I will likely add a Cajun Gun Works trigger and some other cajun goodies as well. like I say out the box this is pretty good though.

My P-10S has been a total surprise to me as to how well I can shoot it.  Mine is an Optics Ready version with a Holosun 507C red dot.  The grip length is just enough for me to get a grip on it with my little finger.  Here is a link to more P-10S videos than you really need to see...these are at 25 out to 200 yards, I think, with several at 100 yards.  I've had Kahr PM-9 and PM-40 pistols and I prefer the larger P-10S size, with a red dot, and with more magazine capacity.  It is a fine little pistol.

Unfortunately for me CZ striker fire handgun is not what I was expecting. It's probably personal preferences but P-01 shoots better for me. Then I value SIG P229, H&K P30/VP9, PPQ before any P-10.

I've been considering a P-10S, but with the number of people I've heard that are putting pinky extensions on the mag in order to get a full grip, I figure at that point the height isn't going to be much different than the P-10C that I already own. If I didn't already have a P-10C, then the P-10S might be more appealing to me. It's certainly a great platform, and head and shoulders better than most other striker guns, imo.

Just an old LEO's opinion.

I will echo Joe L's comment.  The P 10 S is a great pistol, best of the lot of polymer pistols I've ever had.  Has become my edc.

When I handed it to my wife, who carries a G 43, her first comment was, "Wow, what a great trigger!"  I may now have to get another!

The only thing I would caution, is be aware that it does have the typical CZ short chamber, & set up your reloader accordingly. **

I have a similar set up to Joe L's. Optic ready P10S with Holosun 507 C green dot, suppressor BUIS, Cajun trigger and striker and it is by far the best all around gun. With HYVE +3 extension magazine for home defense and a regular 12 round factory magazine for EDC. The length of the grip with the factory mag is perfect for my hands. I carry it in a MIE Production AIWB kydex holster which provides so many ways of adjustments that the whole setup disappears under a loose shirt. The pistol is fun to shoot and easy to carry.

Opinions? Well, here's a video I did for a buddy's website with mine...

https://youtu.be/IDUGfFvsXNk

It is literally the only subcompact I can shoot well at all and the only one so far that I will carry.

Dave, great video, and all the other comments much appreciated.  I'm looking for a gun that I will actually use, can throw in a jacket pocket or my briefcase, and actually shoots well beyond 10 yards...this is very interesting.  My P-01 is a bit large for pocket carry and my surprisingly reliable Remington R-51 has a 7 shot limit.  Now, to see if I can find one.
