P10 F - Anyone daily carry?
« on: September 25, 2020, 08:48:40 PM »
I am new to the forum and new to gun ownership really. I was looking at a S&W MP9 2.0 but was talked out of it and into a CZ. I bought it before trying it. It just felt right in my hands, love the weight of it, and man does it shoot fascistic. I'm sort of new to shooting but am able to drill holes from 10 yards with no problem.

I recently bought an Urban Carry Lockleather 208 holster. I like it, holds my gun firm and pretty concealed considering the full size. Does anyone daily carry the P10F or am I crazy? I don't have a gun belt yet and have been working on dress code when carrying. Thankfully cooler weather is upon us as it's too nice to leave at home! Thanks.

I love my P-10F but I carry a P-10S instead.  F is just too large for me.  Winter is good, that will help!  Enjoy your new pistol.

I love my P-10F, but it is too large as a concealed carry for me. That grip is long and would print too much for me. OWB could work, but that’s not concealed.

Thank you. Isn't the S just slightly smaller? I looked at the C which seems to be 1/2" barrel length shorter and grip-wise but figured a 1/2" couldn't make or break concealment but I could be wrong. I'm carrying OWB so its as concealed as it could get and with a sweatshirt very little to no printing with the Urban Carry. How does the S feel compared to the F in terms of grip? Can yuo get a full hand on it?

P-10S, yes, I can get a pinky finger on it.  The P-10C is good but I prefer the P-10S.  It is just right.

Thanks Joe. I will keep that in mind. When I can't take the biggun out I have an IWB holster with a Ruger LCP but I want something more substantial to carry so I might just keep the S in mind. I have to say the CZ shoots real nice. Its hard to determine how the size will fit in your hand when you look at a spec sheet so knowing you can get a pinky on it is helpful. Just need the mrs to let me into the cougher for some S or C money! The 75's are gorgeous too.

Some people here carry a full-sized like a P10-F or a P-09 and make it work for CCW.  It depends quite a bit on your body type and how you dress.  You're definitely going to need a proper gun belt for carrying that thing OWB so that should probably be at the top of your shopping list.

Personally, the biggest gun I concealed carry is a P-07 and if I were looking to carry a P10 series gun it would be between the P10-C and P10-S.  I used to carry a full-sized Glock in a leather OWB holster similar to the one you have there.  It was comfortable, but unless you are hiding it under bulky layers of clothing like a jacket or a sweatshirt, it isn't very concealed.  My usual cover garment is an untucked button down which hides my IWB rigs pretty effectively.

My smaller pistol IWB rig I can carry discretely with a tucked in polo shirt, or I can pocket carry that pistol in a cargo pocket.  Those options give up a lot of rapid accessibility and firepower, using a single-stack DAO .380 with 6+1 rounds, so it's better to go with the P-07 which is nearly equal to a full-sized P-09 in terms of firepower.

I haven't shot one but the P10-S sounds like an outstanding compromise, getting a pinky grip on a gun with 10+1 and a good trigger.  I have shot a P10-C and I would definitely consider myself well-armed if I were carrying one.

This is great info. I'm definitely looking for a belt before anything else. I have a thick leather belt from ll bean that does pretty well but does flex off my waist a bit. Seems like I need another pistol fit easier carry and my p10f for jacket-type weather. Thanks again for your info

Welcome Aboard !

• You may soon figure out that you want to carry a smaller, lighter gun for everyday use. (This doesn't mean you might not ever carry the F when you need to park at the extreme end of the parking lot for night time Christmas shopping and such.) You'll simply tire of having your pants pulled down due to the total weight of all that ammo. You'll start to feel like a boat that's listing badly due to all the cargo being on one side.

• The second thing you may figure out is that concealed carry is useless without lots and lots of gun handling and shooting practice. Enter the Saturday morning pistol match at your local gun club. Here's where you'll get the most from your new holster and gun belt, and meet lots of like-minded concealed carry neighbors. And your gun handling skills will improve at 'light speed' instead of over a decade.

• The third thing you may figure out is that if you do buy a smaller gun to carry, that you're going to want the exact same controls on both guns. (Practice with one gun, and then carrying another with different controls will introduce more fumbling than no practice at all !) Thank God you bought into a modular system of guns offered in multiple shapes and sizes. This allows you to practice with the more comfortable larger gun, while feeling 100% confident (and being 100% proficient) carrying the smaller version.

I'm not trying to scare you here, I'm simply recounting the path many before you have followed. And when you get to the end of this logical path, then you'll really start to appreciate the wisdom of the CZ line of P10 pistols.

Enjoy !  ;)

Your analogy is spot on. It does feel like a boat but I don't particularly mind it. I just wish it was a bit more concealable comfortably. With a dress shirt over it you can't tell its there. But less weight would also ne nice. While the Ruger LCP is quick and easy I like the capacity of my CZ, and I'm not as comfortable or confident shooting the LITTLE Ruger. I was trying to combine home defense with carry (with the F) but in this case one size won't fit all. I may trade in my Ruger for a larger size conceal carry P10c or other. I only get to the range once a month or so (between work and the little kids). Is the loaded weight p10f vs the C noticeable? Length and height don't seem all that different.

This is great insight, thank you

• The butt may be concealable, but the weight of a full mag will make you carry your weight, walk and stand differently. And we won't even discuss having to re-position the weight every 15 minutes. So think about it... when have you ever needed 18 rounds ? IMHO, most confrontations are over before they start because the carrier is simply more aware and doesn't ever enter that suspicious place. Then, the second most common situation is over when the gun is simply presented. No shots fired. The object is to get away from the situation, not to stand there and send the assailant plus his entire extended family to the Promised Land. So I think you can cut the ammo (weight) down to ~8 rounds and not suffer any down side.

• Check out your local gun clubs. Most have an "action pistol" or "defensive pistol" meets once a month. (These are called "competitions" only because they are timed events.  But, timed only so that you can more easily gauge your personal progress.) It's one of the few venues where the people you're directly competing against will stand there and tell you everything you need to know to beat them ! The non-stop help is one reason why you'll improve so fast. And for the record, most of the classifications you'll shoot within only allow 10 rounds in the mag.

All the best !
