Noobie Question: Attaching the Brace to Evo 3 S2?
« on: October 24, 2020, 11:01:54 PM »
Hello, folks.

I recently bought an Evo 3 S2 with the SB Tactical folding brace.  Is there a trick to attaching the brace?  Mine is super tight.  I managed to get it past the push button detent with help of a rubber mallet, but it was taking a good amount of force. I got nervous I was forcing it so I backed it off.  I tried a bit of CLP, but it didn't make a difference.  I followed the instructions here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Esw6NTXqjn8&feature=emb_title.  Only difference I've noticed is--as far as I can tell--mine only came with one set screw.

Any thoughts/suggestions?

Thanks!

Take another good look to ensure that you only have ONE set screw then.  The braces are all usually tight fitting.  I would use a little grease on the rails before attempting install.  .Make sure your detent is depressed fully and continue tapping with rubber hammer.  Make sure to tap the brace NOT the gun.   Worse case scenario heat the brace end carefully with a hair dryer, right before install.

Thanks for your advice.  Any particular grease you recommend?

Good luck.  Mine is stuck about halfway on at the moment.  I haven’t made time to go to the store for a rubber mallet.  I bruised my hand trying to get it on.

Mine was super tight, I used a little white lithium on it. Still had to hammer it on with a rubber mallet.

I'd already ordered a Manticore pull out stock for it ,took it off as soon as I put it on. Just wanted to see how it looked. Hated it when it was folded.

For what it's worth, it looks like my brace only has one spot for a set screw...  (I'll add a pic in a second.)

Managed to get it installed with lots of lube and some generous pounding.  O0

It seems that ATF is coming for braces again, ignore President Trump's cease and desist order and expanding it beyond just the Honey Badger.

Brace for it...

FYI: I talked to SB Tactical, and they said newer braces only have one set screw and are tighter fitting.  Apparently, they had a lot of customer feedback that the brace wasn't tight enough with the two screw version.

First time on the forum. Had the same problem with my new Evo 3 S2 brace too.  Exact same issue having to use a rubber mallet to drive on and off the frame.  I called CZ support and they verified my issue.  Each time I took mine off I was finding polymer shavings but it did get easier with lube. Sucker is tight for sure.

Yup just chiming in to confirm the newer ones (like my micro) require a poundin' to get on/off there.
