This probably could/should have been spelled out in the owners manual.

In a parallel comparison, hard setting my full mag into my p-10c (that I have yet to fire) will induce it to auto load that first round. Some do, some don't......without an explanation in the owners manual

Since the thread veered into the reload process, which is a good subject to delve into, I was working with reloads with my EVO last evening for a few minutes. I found that what worked best is if I grasp the mag by the base area with my little finger under the base plate (left hand loading as I am a right hand shooter) and operate the paddle mag release with my left thumb while grabbing onto the spent or partial spent mag. I remove the mag then feed in the fresh mag. I do have to give the fresh mag a bit of a butt slap to seat it on a closed bolt.

Travis Haley has always been all about economy of motion when loading, unloading, and clearing malfunctions. That video, for me, was a great help.
