Since the thread veered into the reload process, which is a good subject to delve into, I was working with reloads with my EVO last evening for a few minutes. I found that what worked best is if I grasp the mag by the base area with my little finger under the base plate (left hand loading as I am a right hand shooter) and operate the paddle mag release with my left thumb while grabbing onto the spent or partial spent mag. I remove the mag then feed in the fresh mag. I do have to give the fresh mag a bit of a butt slap to seat it on a closed bolt.
Travis Haley has always been all about economy of motion when loading, unloading, and clearing malfunctions. That video, for me, was a great help.
