What to do with my 97BD?
« on: January 31, 2021, 09:41:58 AM »
I recently purchased an new 97BD (first new cz all the rest have been used) and I am contemplating sending it to get the E package from CGW or doing some of the work myself and just being satisfied with what I have.  I have done short reset,  reach reduction, defensive carry package exact on a few other decocker models and have taken most of them apart and polished them up. I am happy with the finished product but still have in my mind what would be like to have it done by the professioals?

Did the E package on mine and I am happy with it.  Did not get a huge increase in accuracy.  It does shoot 10ring at 25 yds, but it did that before I sent it in, just a little tighter now.  Based on my experience, the difference between the pro-package and the E is the barrel bushing. I would probably just do the pro-package.

Good luck with your project.  Please let us know your decision and results.

I like the reach reduction and short reset I have on some of my other guns.  I'm not sure I would benefit a lot from the barrel bushing bit might look into the pro package. Just want to shoot it again, weather around here has not been conducive to shooting lately. Pennsylvania winter.

I sent mine in for the bushing conversion only. I installed and polished the action parts myself. Groups tightened considerably, but it depends somewhat on ammo.

Think it would be situation dependent.  If you are not getting the accuracy you want then the bushing is probably in line.  My gun was pretty accurate out of the box and I probably did not benefit that much from the bushing.  The trigger work was amazing at made it so much nicer in DA mode.  All my excuses for missing a first shot out of the holster went out the window.

Good luck on your project.
