Early 75 compact has "V" at end of serial#
« on: January 31, 2021, 08:22:41 PM »
Just got this 2000 CZ75 Compact PCR slide on a P01 frame...Frame has a "V" at the end of serial number, slide and barrel do not...Is there any significance to the V? Also curious about the T in a circle stamp on barrel and trigger guard, and just a T on fire control group, and inside of slide...

You guys are pretty sharp on these guns, school me please....

PCR style slide with no snag rear sight, angled front and rear serrations, no Loaded Chamber Indicator, No V in serial. Aluminum frame with V in serial, railed with one notch but does not go all the way across...

I've seen similar on other imported surplus pistols, so I am guessing the importer (CAI in my case) added an extra character to the Serial Number. Since the US only requires the pistol frame to be S/N, the importer didn't bother with the other locations.

I got an extra "Y" on mine.

Absolutely makes sense. It IS a CAI, GEORGIA UT. import. Also the V is sitting a bit lower than the serial, must have been a Monday...Any Ideas on the T in a circle?

The T inside a circle is the proof mark seen on Czech military firearms such this Bren and the grenade launcher in the attached photo. The partial notch cuts on the rail is the first design that was quickly discarded for a standardized Pic setup. I’m guessing the added letter that’s sometimes seen on these older surplus pistols could be a local organizational mark or importer’s mark (I don’t believe CAI did it on a consistent basis, if at all). I seem to recall that there are some pistols out there with I think, an inverted Y to designate factory blemished but still issued guns? Based on the SN, yours should be from 2000. You’ll find many types of the surplus compacts between 1999-03 with a mix of features different from the standardized ones currently offered.
