Ive got the same project coming up maybe this winter. The 82 I will be doing is one that someone already stripped and tried to re-blue. It just doesnt look as good as the examples in this thread. Maybe some nice grips such as the ones pictured, or I also read about sanding down the original grips that had decent looking results. My distraction is deciding which way to go with the finish, slow rust blue or regular, perhaps even the duracoat spray. I have plenty of time to research, probably wont get started until this next spring some time. I have been told that Brownells cold blue is better that Birchwood Casey's, but wasnt shown any examples by the gunsmith who told me so.
