P-01 inspection
« on: March 08, 2021, 12:59:37 AM »
I'm about to acquire a used P-01.  It'll be my 1st CZ.  What are some things I should look out for to ensure it's in good working condition?  Also curious if there are parts that wear out quicker and need to be replaced.  Thanks.

1. function check
a. rack the slide without mag several times to feel if works smooth
b. insert every mag and rack the slide to see if it locks back
c. release the slide with slide lock/release lever and with pulling slide back (with every mag)
d. release every mag with button
e. check decocker functionality
f. cock the hammer manually and release it manually (no needed but I always like to feel it under my fingers if does it move smoothly)
g. "pencil test"
2. field strip and look for any cracks. use marks are typical, but shouldn't be significant
3. with slide disassembled insert dummy round or casing in the place and check if extractor keeps it
4. check the chamber  - look for any cracks of imperfections on chamber edges and feed ramp

The only part I'll be replacing by default is recoil spring. New main spring will be also good option if yo gonna carry it. Otherwise time will show if new is needed.

Good luck !

UPDATE:
Don't forget to check if sights are sitting tightly. (you shouldn't be able to move them by hands for sure)

I’ll describe another function test I like to do that could be added to the above, which I think is a good description.
1. Ensure the gun is unloaded by opening the slide, dropping the mag out, and checking the chamber.
2. Point in safe direction and dry fire if the store allows it.
3. While keeping trigger pulled back, rack the slide. The hammer should stay back.
4. Slowly release the trigger to feel the reset.

Does anyone else do this? I also do it after reassembling any pistol.

Of course I do...  ::) How could I forgot about this one?  ???
Thx for adding this to the list!  ;)
