Setting up for a LIVE televised CZ SAO/Cajun conversion
« on: March 02, 2021, 09:48:32 AM »
guys, where is a good place to host live vids of gunsmithing?
I just got a sack of Cajun parts and am about to convert my old 75B to SAO.
A while back before the election, when I was a member of FB, a guy held live 1911 fitting session and it was awesome.
looking to do similar, but YT say no guns in live feeds now so what gives? where should I go?
Periscope/full30/vimeo? anything else I'm missing?

You could do a zoom call if you are set on doing it live.  Live requires everyone to be available at one time and that simply isn't necessary for a parts install video that will be of as much interest two years from now as it is the day you shoot it.

Personally, I wouldn't do it live.  Just do a video about it as you are doing it, that is hard enough.  Ideally you need lights, a quiet space, two cameras- on over the work area and one on you, a good mic and audio recorder, and some practice.  I think I spent one full day on the P-09 parts install video and it is just a few minutes long.  If I were to do another parts install video, I would allow two full days, one to shoot it, one to edit it.  And I have had a lot of practice doing YouTube videos.

His video of the Garand is awesome, but its not live, there are obvious cuts and fades. Very well done but not live.
If I find a place I'll post a link, the Zoom might work. I'm working on a nice pistol stand for the vid too since I gave my other one away for a bag to 06 brasses.
I have all the camera stuff and backgrounds and have done a few things before, but that was before the YT clamp down. now my fav shows that are live are just hand pews (they can't even show the gun they are talking about), weird.

I did it on twitch. Nobody watched, I guess yall were out partying but my SOA conversion is 90% done! I did it 95% by memory. the biggest hitch was replacing the hammer strut pin. I had not bought a replacement and holdy crap using the stock one was not ideal. the end peened over and I had to file it smooth to keep from catching in the hammer channel.

I've still got to set/adjust the safety and let it dry/ then the BIG finish on top.
