P-10C replacement frame
« on: April 04, 2021, 08:32:16 AM »
I did some searching here, and it's not clear if you can buy a P-10C replacement frame? (and maybe I didn't find the right thread on this).  It doesn't appear you can as the frame is serialized (similar to glock and others), but I thought I'd check.   I was hoping it was as easy to buy and swap a frame as it is for the sig P365/365XL (but it is the FCU that has the serial number for a P365).

So, if the answer is you can't, is the only option to send it in to CZ for a replacement?  Let's say you dropped it and it cracked, or you bought one that the frame had been "bubba'd" in some fashion (but the rest of the gun was fine).   Will CZ allow a certified gunsmith to do a swap, or does it have to go to CZ?

I think you'd need to replace the entire gun. You could sell the slide to recoup some of your money.

Maybe on GB but you’ll need an FFL, it’s going to be like buying a Glock frame as yes you are correct the SN is inside the frame.

Now I don’t know about CZ but selling complete or stripped slide assemblies on eBay looks to be a viable option.

Some of it because of Glock slide assemblies being able to be put on a P-80 frame might be why they sell for so much. I’m not sure about CZ stuff.

Take a peek on eBay and search and see.

Can I ask why your looking for another frame?

Stippling? Cut to a different length?

Reason for my frame question is my penchant for slight modification of it.  The P10-c has great ergos, but for me they could be slightly enhanced, like:
- increasing the undercut of the trigger guard just under the mag release - to get rt hand middle finger up higher (easy to do with theP365 as a new frame runs $35)
- slight undercut of the trigger guard outer surface where my support (left) hand index finger rides.
- and as good (and as high) as the stock beavertail undercut is (yielding a lower bore axis), I wouldn't mind a tad more under cut

I really like to get my hand up as high as possible on the grip / gun.  As I said, it's easy to do with the P365 & XL as replacement frames are $35.  Not that big a deal as the P-10c ergos are some of the best out of the box.

There's not much material to work with in the beavertail area. Sounds like you need an Archon Type B.

If the gun was under warranty and there was a definite factory defect in the frame CZ would scrap your gun and send you an entirely new pistol with an entirely new serial number but if you wreck the frame yourself you will be out of luck and have to buy a complete pistol. Unless of course you find something used on GB or Arms List.
I'd think real hard before I started filing away material that you can't put back on.
