EZD rear sight installation, then CGW race hammer.
« on: September 04, 2021, 10:57:29 AM »
I really don't care for the tiny white dot rear sights on CZ's. I thought since my 97 had the front FO the EZD rear would be fine and cheap way to do away with the rear sight.  Long story short I installed the EZD sight only to find out that the stock round hammer would not work like I would like it to so I ordered the race hammer and installed it. I can easily access the hammer now and am happy with it not to mention it lightened the SA trigger pull about one #. I opted not to get the adjustable sear as money was tight and painstakingly modified the safety as per the instructions I found online, what a PITA. Not such a cheap and easy mod after all. Anyway its done and I am taking it to the range today and find out if it was worth it.

I do not see allot of folks hand fit their Sear/Safety. Glad to hear that it worked out. The after market Hammers really can change a CZ.

Thank you for the post and pic. May your CZ 97 run flawlessly.

Will work for CZ pics! (including but not limited to all CZ clones)

Once you understand the angle that needs to be cut into the sear, it can be done with a lot less effort. I stopped buying the adjustable sear years ago.

Thanks for the replies. I actually went with info I found online and modified the safety lever. In hindsight and my instinct was to modify the sear. it costs 9 bucks and the safety cost $35 or $60 if you have CGW cut to fit. I didn't go with the adjustable sear because they told me the safety would go up even on a down hammer, don't know if its true or not. Anyone that has done the adjustable sear know if that's the case?  I can slightly lift my safety up with the hammer down but it will not engage. This is just a range toy and I would never consider carrying it. I might revisit this in the future when money allows but for now calling it done.

I have a SP-01 that has a CGW adjustable sear on it. I just checked it to see if the if the safety went up on a down hammer and found that it does not go up. It does move up slightly but it does not engage the safety. I’m getting ready to convert my 97B to SAO with a CGW Standard Defensive Package because I love the trigger on my SP-01. Just thought I’d add my 2 cents.

Thanks for the reply, that's pretty much what mine will do. Does anyone know if the adjustable sear will make the trigger any lighter? food for though if I ever re-visit this in the future.

I just installed the Cajun gun works adjustable sear, I just was not happy with the safety after fitting the safety lever to the sear arm. I was worried the Cajun Gun works sear would make the trigger too light, one of the reasons I did not install it in the first place.  It didn't.  2# 14oz is the average SA trigger pull now. I would recommend going this route to anyone installing a different hammer unless you have experience, especially fitting the safety to the sear arm that sure was some shinfo.
