You have to keep in mind that this firearm is old and used, so those dents and dings are what I consider "character". You probably won't be able to get all of them completely out, but you can certainly lessen the severity of them. Tapering is the key. The rust bluing will help to camouflage them as well. When draw filing or using a sanding block, you'll be surprised at how many of the "flats" aren't very flat at all.

This right here. ^^^
These frames are cast, not milled out of a hunk of steel. Each one is a little different and none of them are perfect. Some of those tiny divots can open up into larger voids. Don't over do it or you'll wind up removing a lot of metal and still have a visible flaw. Think minimize, not eliminate. After bluing it will look better than you'd expect.

Would love to see more. I do restorations too, mostly old guitars, but I love the process.
