I agree  with most of what he has to say here. I've always believed you should practice avoidance anytime it's possible. If trouble follows or simply can't be avoided that's different. I'll defend myself and family anyway I can but beyond that if it doesn't directly concern me it's not my problem. I'm not defending anyone else and no way would I set myself up for the problems that follow a defensive situation for anyone but a family member.

It's good advice, but I'd say it's been good advice for a long time, not just recently or because of any recent events.

I'd also say his description of the "good ol days" of policing is a little rosy, to put it mildly.

But still, it's good to see it being emphasized.

Avoiding conflict and deescalation were always good ideas.  Have been armed for decades, still do not want to ever have to want to shoot anyone.
