Shadow 2 - SA Trigger Creep
« on: July 01, 2022, 05:52:52 AM »
Hi all,

My Shadow 2 has quite a lot of SA trigger creep before it breaks. There is an initial take up, then a second take up/creep, then break. The second creep appears to be some sort of movement of the sear (or around that area). Is that hammer cam? Or something else?

I would of course really like to clean up the break and get rid of this second creep, preferably keeping the pistol as standard as possible. Many thanks.

This is all you need to eliminate the creep:  https://cajungunworks.com/product/race-hammer-kit/

I'd get the floating trigger pin and a hammer pin while ordering though.  I'd also consider a different trigger if you wanted as well.  You can adjust the trigger pre and post travel to eliminate the initial takeup as detailed here:  https://cdn1.cajungunworks.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/07/28155351/How-To-Adjusting-Trigger-Screws.pdf

Cheers,
Toby

What "tdogg" said. I installed the above on my S2 and it really made a difference.

I found the SA creep as well. I just did the CGW Pro Kit and barrel bushing on my Shadow 2. The creep completely disappeared. Now a very clean 2 1/2 pound SA trigger with the 11.5 pound main spring. The SA hooks on their race hammer are a lot smaller.

Are these recommendations for a Shadow 2 SA (only) as well as a DA/SA?

IMO both. The CGW hammer, discon and sear totally eradicated any trigger creep.

Earl, so to my question, your opinion, will these recommendations help in a S2, single action only, as well as a DA/SA?

Thanks!

The only parts you need to eliminate creep in a Shadow 2 are a Cajun hammer and Cajun HPIN(2). To avoid fitting your oem sear to work with the new hammer geometry, it's recommended to also install a Cajun adjustable sear(makes install a breeze).
You could try burnishing the oem hammer, but that won't eliminate all of the creep you're feeling.
The Cajun race hammer may pick up a tiny bit of pull weight compared to the CZ comp hammers, but the break will be more crisp with virtually no creep.

What Earl said.  The hammer fixes creep.   There are other things to consider when tuning a da/sa cz.  The take up, weight,  and smoothness of the da trigger pull can be addressed as well.   This isn't a problem on a sa gun.

Cheers,
Toby
