Hi guys, this is my first official post on this forum after lurking for a bit. I have a brand new CZ 75 compact with just under 200 rounds in it. I did a polish on the barrel to give it a chrome look and when putting it back in the slide, there is some side to side play when jiggling it around (No vertical movement). I'm unsure whether there was any side to side movement prior to the barrel polish.

I have found that when putting the slide back on and racking the slide back, it "resets" the barrel to a centered position where the barrel can be jiggled left or right.

Is this a normal thing in these guns? I would assume that there would be no play once the barrel is dropped into the slide.

Hope I'm just overthinking this. Thanks!

While the slide is forward and locked, some movement of the end of the barrel at the factory barrel bushing is normal. Unless you notice that it is less accurate than you want it to be while you are shooting it, do not concern yourself with it. All of my CZ 75 variants with factory barrel bushings have some movement at the barrel bushing.
Will work for CZ pics! (including but not limited to all CZ clones)

Thanks for the response. I should have been more clear in my original post. Sorry about that.

The feeding ramp area of the barrel is where the side to side play is happening when the slide is off. The barrel of the gun is quite snug when the slide is forward and locked.

I would not concern yourself with the barrels movement when the slide is off of the frame. The main fitting areas of a CZ 75 variant barrel are located around the barrels chamber. Unless you modified these fitting pads, it is unlikely that your polishing has influenced the barrels lock up at the chamber.

With the slide off of the frame the barrel is going to move around allot more than when the slide is installed on the frame, fully forward and locked. This is because while fully assembled and locked the barrel is supported by the Slide  Stop shaft going through the barrel peanut (The bean shaped hole located on the lug that hangs below the barrel hood and chamber).

Makes sense! Thanks man, your wisdom is appreciated. I'll have a pic of my gun ready for you all soon enough!
