CZ 97 tactical light options
« on: May 18, 2024, 01:59:21 PM »
Hi all, I love cz guns and am interested to buy a 97BD to serve as a home defense and primary range gun for 45acp.

But I'm worried about it's utility as a home defense gun without a light rail. I know there are different arguments about lights and flashlights, but for home defense I think I would prefer to at least have the option of a mounted light if I wanted it.

So are there any good options for the CZ 97? Trigger guard or frame mounted adapter? Grip mounted light?

I know a picatinny rail can be drilled into the dust cover...but I really don't want to do this. I love the sleek design of cz guns, drilling holes and adding permanent doodads just seems sad... should I rethink this opinion though? Maybe function is more important than looks?

Best option would be a light attachment without drilling holes in the gun, any suggestions greatly appreciated. I would love to have a CZ 97, but I also generally only try to own guns that fulfill a need for me. I'm worried if I can't attach a light to a CZ 97, then maybe it becomes a bit redundant as just another range toy that sits in a vault at home

Thanks!

Remember that people used firearms for hundreds of years without a light attached to the firearm.

While it might be nice to have, provided you know how to use it properly, it's not a necessity. No one shoots in a cave. Even with the lights out in a home, there's ambient light to see.

Rather than screw up a good 97 with drilling, buy a gun with a light rail if you absolutely must have a rail light.

I keep a nice powerful handheld light next to my HD gun. That way I can point that light wherever I want without worry of pointing the muzzle where it doesn't need to be pointed.

This is not an issue! Cajun Gun Works installs picatinny rail. Used to be $100 but I think it went up.
