What are 453 rifles selling for these days?
« on: June 16, 2021, 06:24:51 PM »
What kind of prices are model 453 rifles selling for? Do the Varmints sell higher than the Americans? Would a 17 HMR or Mach 2 sell for a significantly different price than a 22lr? W

This is a tough question actually. Both the 453 CZ's and the 17 Mach 2's chamberings currently have a premium cost attachment. On RIMFIRE CENTRAL Trading Post there is a 452 in 17 Mach 2 for $850. There's a 452 17 Mach 2 on Arm List for $1100. Going from memory the last 453 in 17 Mach 2 was quite a bit more something like an asking price of $2000. Don't know if they got it or not but they were trying. Your looking for a combination of two of CZ"s rarer offerings with a 453 in 17 Mach2.

Thank you. I am curious what the other calibers are going for too. One sold on RC recently in 22lr for $550. It was gone quick lol! Must have been underpriced.

As your aware it's weird times in gun related sales. Everything even remotely gun related is at a premium. And if it's a limited run or desirable option then it's purely a sellers market. I like the CZ 452 rimfire Full Stocks ( Mannlicher stocked ) rifles. Watching the prices on these double then triple and then quintuple over the last year and a half has been an eye opener. There's a 17 HMR 452 Full Stock on the market at $800 and that is actually considered a good price on a rifle that went for $300 originally. I believe the CZ 453 rifles were announced in August 2005 and officially discontinued in 2011 although I think some still came into the states after 2011. The 17 Mach 2 chambering wasn't the biggest seller as you'll notice CZ doesn't offer barrels for the 455 or 457 in 17 Mach 2. I'm afraid your looking for a rifle that has two big limiting factors, a limited production run in a fairly rare caliber. Good luck in your search.

I agree with you david s. I would settle for a 452 in HM2  or even a Marlin 917 M2. I just think the 453 is neat. I never paid attention to them until recently. I am a lefty and it the 452 was offered in left hand models. No one I am aware of ever made a left handed 17 HM2 rifle so that eliminates any need to search for one.

Do you use google or any of the gun auction//selling sites?

you can try there if you havent.  Some sties you may have to join to see any past auctions/sales

Also, the price will be dictated by how bad someone wants it.

If you havent shot/handled a 453 with the SS trigger than you may want to or maybe not.  Also, ever consider buying whats out now and having work or an aftermarket kit/parts?

and yes, 550 was a good/great price.  But you live and learn too.

the ones i have are not leaving too soon and im glad i got them before you couldn't.

I have done some research on Google but not many recent results. I am sure part of the reason is not that many 453 models were manufactured.  It seems like I become interested in stuff after it is no longer made and/or when everyone else has.

There's a CZ 453 in 17HMR listed on INDIANAGUNOWNERS.COM ( INGO ) for $650 as of June 14th. There around but a bit of needle in the hay stack thing. Auctions, various gun selling web sites, Armslist, RIVEROFGUNS, Google, just keep searching and yours will show up. Just takes a bit of time.
