Would you do this sale/trade?
« on: November 14, 2023, 11:49:23 AM »
Hey guys, I am debating either installing a pro kit on my p-01 or trading it and my sp-01 off for a wilson combat edcx9. Just looking for the opinions of those who have experience with both. Thanks in advance!!

What is the intended purpose and use of your current pistol or the trade?

The P01 is a superior handgun for carry or target shooting. It's DA/SA with a decocker, which is handy in carry situations. It was torture tested in some European handgun trials for like 30,000 rounds without a failure. Drop tested, frozen, etc. You can drop it 10 times and not hurt the resale value. It's value is not based on a beauty pageant, but rather performance.

I'm sure the Wilson is a fine gun, but IMHO its value is based on being a beauty queen Wilson. Drop it 3 times and the value might be halved. And where's the performance and safety? It's a 1911 SA only. No decocker. Never gone through military trials.  But it's pretty.

You’re on a CZ forum so there might be a little bias  ;) I had a few Wilson guns but I never felt the value to cost ratio was there. Was never sure if I was paying extra for the “Wilson” or the “Combat”. I can’t comment on the $$$ value or even the functionality but if you’ve always wanted a top tier handgun I say do it and scratch that itch. You’ll always be able to sell it and buy another CZ.

If it's an even trade that's a no brainer. Assuming you'd be adding a significant amount of cash, it would depend how much. The Wilson is a very nice piece.

Nope! Not in a million years and probably not even after that!  :)

It was plus a lot of mags/a lot of holsters (iwb aiwb owb duty shoulder both lightbearing holsters and non for some) and a couple hundred cash. Wilson came with an optic, 6 mags, and 3 holsters owb iwb and aiwb.

Around here a stock P-01 and an SP-01 might go for $1500 if you are lucky. Even with lots of mags/holsters I doubt close to $2000. Isnt that Wilson a $3000 gun? A no brainer for me, do the trade. If you dont like it, sell it and come out ahead, then buy more CZ's.

Looked up that EDC. Used I see them from $2500-3200.

The P01 in my opinion is the flagship of CZ pistols. I sold my first one only to buy it again. No experience with the SP-01 but it doesn't intrigue me.

So i'd keep the PO1 and send it to Cajun Gun Works and have them sprinkle their magic on it. Even then you'd be at half price of the Wilson. You could sell the SP-01 if you wanted to recoup some funds.

Now if your doing an even trade, which is highly unlikely, then it's a no brainer. But i'm guessing you'd have to pony up another 1000 bucks minimum.
