New Czechmate in the works?
« on: April 04, 2021, 09:03:54 PM »
I can't remember the source, but it seems to me that I've heard rumors that there might be a new CZ Czechmate in the works.  Anyone hear anything about this?  What makes me think this might be true is that all of a sudden everyone has a Czechmate/Parrot for sale.  Typically these models are very rare and are built in limited quantities, but suddenly they're all over the place.

I know that a couple of years ago Eric Grauffel left Team Tanfoglio and came to the CZ competition team. Is it possible that he might have something to do with the new competition models that CZ has been coming out with (CZ Shadow Orange, CZ TC2), or is that just a coincidence? The new TC2 is now based off of the Shadow 2 frame instead of the older CZ 75 frame that the Tactical Sport Orange and the Czechmate are based off of, so it would be understandable if they came out with a new Czechmate based off of the Shadow 2 frame also. In one video on youtube, Grauffel is shown showing different variations of the TC2, some that are definitely coming out and some that may just be a design exercise. In that video he teases a new Parrot themed TC2.

I just thought that if CZ was coming out with a new Czechmate, they might be pushing more Czechmates out the door as sort of a last hurrah to get ready for the new model.  Anybody hear anything?

Yes, when Eric signed with them in his announcement he mentioned collaborating with them on new Open and Limited guns.

The Limited guns are here now so we're just waiting on the Czechmate replacement.

Mine ships to me on Monday. Even if there is a new one, I will enjoy the pistol. In life, there is always a new one.

Well, I love my new Czechmate. It's hard for me to imagine what they could do to improve a new model.
It will be interesting to see changes, if they introduce a new version...

All they’ll do is put a TS2 frame on the old slide and call it the new czechmate. It’s just like the old TS. It was upgraded by using the new TS2 frame which is essentially a shadow 2 frame with minor mods (to accept TSO/Czechmate 20 and 26 round mags).

The TS2 slide also has the shadow 2 slide shape.

And that’s exactly what CZ did after getting rid of the TS. Put a shadow 2 style frame on a TSO slide and you have a TS2. If you get the TS2 green, you’ll get an upgraded TS with the shadow 2 style mag release of the TSO, green grips instead of orange etc.
