BRNO model 4 vs modern CZ
« on: December 07, 2021, 06:29:33 PM »
I was thinking of getting a good bolt action rimfire for plinking and shooting at an indoor range at 25 to 100 yards, so naturally I've been considering a CZ.

But I also have come across a Model 4 BRNO for around 600 or less with cheap scope and rings.  It looks nice and has that classic stock.  I was wondering how much trouble a vintage rifle would be for a beginner to the genre.  Easy to care for?  Easy to replace the most commonly worn parts?  Any rare parts likely to be needed?  Go vintage or go modern?  I don't plan to shoot very long ranges and won't have much chance to shoot outdoors. Perhaps once a year at most.

Vintage guns are great, parts availability is usually an issue.  A new CZ is in the same price range, so I would lean that direction.
