Trickier recommendation
« on: August 22, 2021, 04:04:39 PM »
Looking for one that does not leak powder. I an not concerned about weight. I can fix that myself.

Thanks in advance.

I have and use a Redding. No leaks since I bought it in 2013 and I use Ramshot Tac in it

My RCBS works fine.  Though the automatic powder dispenser is really nice.

And that's what I would say, if I knew you were going to be doing a bunch of rifle cartridges.

Wobbly,

I even use it for load development in rifle loads, where I am only doing 5-10 at a time. Guess I am getting old and lazy. :)

The reason for a trickier is that at the last powder shortage I was picking up whatever powder I could find. One of the powders was Hi-skor 800x.

Because how it metered I was using the middle of the load range to be safe. I was at times dropping about 3gr. more than I wanted. But I it did well in 45ACP.

I still have a few pounds of it and want to load a ladder of it so the trickier is what I am going to need.

Understand fully.  I used a 700X load for years in 45 ACP.  Was never consistent from any powder drop I could find.  Flake powders are always though.  Wish you all the best.

Absolutely hate 800X.  Loaded up the last I had (only bought a lb. and hated it from the get go) for .357 SIG using the Hornady electronic powder measure/scale.

My RCBS Uniflow wouldn't meter it.  The RCBS little dandy pistol powder measure wouldn't meter it.  The Lee powder measure I bought wouldn't meter it.
I just keep wasting time and money on other brands trying to find/make one shoot like my P07 and P09.  What is wrong with me?

Ditto with 700X. I can use it, but I do NOT like loading it. I think my unopened can of it is a few years old now...it's for emergencies. However, I do have to say it did give me good groups with cast bullets and wasn't a real messy powder for me, just a huge pain in the fundament to load.
Now this HS-6 stuff I just got...nice.
