Well, THAT was different
« on: September 05, 2021, 12:21:58 AM »
I was decapping and resizing 9mm brass, since my local fun shop actually had small pistol primers for a shining brief moment, when everything stopped. Stroke all the way up, all the way down and no spent primer, and the case still stuck in the shellholder. But, the Lee collet hadn't slipped up...For the first time in over 15 years reloading, (closer to 20 now, I think), I had punctured a primer trying to remove it. I grabbed the first thing handy with the hammer, (1/16th inch Allen wrench), and tapped it out. I had not had that happen before. Brass was nickle plated from Hornaday Critical Defense 135gr +P round, for full disclosure.

I've had it happen a few times but it was mostly .223 brass.

Also had the back of the primer cup come off and leave the sides stuck to the brass in the primer pocket.

Sometimes, you just can't save that piece of brass.  Sometimes you can.
I just keep wasting time and money on other brands trying to find/make one shoot like my P07 and P09.  What is wrong with me?

I almost had that happen to me a couple weeks ago on some .45. Knocked the decapper out of the top of the die but it was close to punching right through.
