Does anybody know why cgw suggests to hammer the firing pin retaining pin in one shot and not tap it in?

He actually hit it 14 times. The worry is that the firing pin will slip back during installation of the retaining pin. I have do 10 or so of these and just holg the firing pin in place while tapping in the retaining pin

If you put the slide back on the frame and rest the hammer on the firing pin, it will hold the firing pin in the correct place for you to tap the retaining pin in.
