Brand New 75 BD Hammer Will Not Completely Drop
« on: January 16, 2022, 11:24:51 AM »
Hello. New member here with a brand new CZ 75BD with 75 rounds through it. The pistol shot fine at the range the other day. Yesterday I did a little dry fire practice (<10 dry fires) and the hammer stopped completely droppin in SA mode. I pull the trigger and the hammer will drop to the decock position a few seconds later. Manually fully cocking the pistol has the same results. When fully cocked, the decocker works most of the time but occasionally will not function. DA mode works fine. My apologies if I am not using correct terminology. Any help is much appreciated!

Call CZ-USA the warranty will cover it and if you start gunsmithing on it you could affect the warranty.
If I had known how much better being retired is than working I would have done it FIRST.

I would do a basic field strip and be sure no debris has entered the action. If there's nothing obvious you need to CALL CZ-USA and let them handle it under warranty. They will email a shipping label and bring it back on their dime.

did you give it a thorough clean and lube before going to the range?

Thanks to everyone for the responses. I did a basic field strip and thoroughly clean the barrel and slide rails before going to the range for the first time. I also did a basic field strip and did not find any debris in the action. A call to CZ USA warranty is next. Again, thanks to everyone for the quick and friendly responses.

Your saying it takes the hammer seconds to drop to the half cock position when pulling the trigger in sa?  Does it switch into da when this happens (trigger will be forced back forward as the hammer drops)?  When you manually cock it do you feel binding or significant resistance?

I'd check the trigger bar spring to make sure it is riding under the trigger bar and not wedged between the frame and trigger bar on either side.

I'd pull off the grips and make sure the main spring isn't broken or main spring strut isn't bent somehow?

A picture of the frame from the top showing the trigger bar and sear cage could be helpful.

Sounds like a trip in for warranty is the right call but I'd like to know the root cause first.

Cheers,
Toby
